John Keim ESPN
ESPN's Commanders beat reporter, covering the team full-time. Also hosts The John Keim Report podcast.
- Note: he said it takes a lot to make it work. Didn’t realize i botched the sentence, makes it unreadable. 21m ago
- Some second thoughts on the Commanders. Talking about what happened. Quinn’s job security and more. @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com john-keim-report/id1455645619?i=1000796035991 25m ago
- Asked a former DB coach about this play. Said was a hybrid zone/man coverage. He loves the call but said it takes a lot to make it work so played a match it up properly. Could that be an issue when in a new system? “Absolutely” 8h ago
- This was from earlier. On you know what … met with Harris (as usual). More 89/quinn-commanders-botched-final-play-starts-me 9h ago
- Asked Quinn if he worries that a gaffe like this could cause players to lose confidence in him or his staff: "I don't... I know how tough our team is, the resilience, the toughness. They're able to handle adversity. We've got to get our execution nailed down. We have to be the team that we're capable of being. And that was the message that was loud and clear today." 16h ago
- Quinn on fan displeasure in him: "I'm just as pissed too. This is a really hard loss. I have a lot of faith in who we are as an organization. I'm looking forward to getting back on the field Monday night." 16h ago
- Quinn said the play came from OC David Blough. Quinn said one issue was that there was too much subbing for that situation. But Quinn said, "All that comes from me what we can and can't do. Dave calls it but it's clear about my guidelines too It's a breakdown in a lot of ways and it starts with me first." 16h ago
- Dan Quinn said he speaks with Josh Harris regularly. Said "no one is happy" with where they are at. 17h ago
- Dan Quinn said he was furious after the game. He said, "We've got a lot of shit to clean up." 17h ago
- Mistake no 1: taking a long time to get the play in. If the desire is to run another play and perhaps pick up a few more yards then get to the line around 30 seconds when there are no more TO. Mistake no 2: the call. From under center and play action with downfield routes. One Off coach from another team wondered “if just throwing it away, do from gun.” Also: his foot was stepped on again (second time in the game). The easy call: spike it, kick the FG. Mistake no 3: not throwing it away. Then the lax effort by all to get reset. All confusing. Mishandled at each step. Brutal. 18h ago
- It's still uncertain exactly what happened or what was said on the headset but based on the slow reaction of the players after Daniels went down, it's clear some didn't know they were out of timeouts or how much time remained. A lack of urgency overall. Bottom line: They were not prepared for that situation. This is a tough one to come back from on many levels. 1d ago
- Quick video on another game with a 2nd half defensive collapse... 477 1d ago
- On the WTF play at the end of the game. Still mind boggling. 42/commanders-daniels-takes-blame-botched-final-play-ot 1d ago
- Forgot to tweet this last night but here was the pool report On the Amik Robertson pass interference call in the third that wiped out his INT From Ref Clete Blakeman about the play (courtesy pool reporter @NickiJhabvala@twitter.com ) "It was reported to me that the defender grabbed the jersey of the receiver and kind of pulled himself back into the play. Of course, it was while the ball was in the air, so it becomes pass interference, not defensive holding." 1d ago
- On video. What in the hell….? @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com 1d ago
- Just brutal. So much blame to go around on the final play. And yet another defensive collapse in the second half. 1-3-1 is a good zone D in hoops, not a record they needed. @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com john-keim-report/id1455645619?i=1000795843355 1d ago
- Dan Quinn said “ultimately it falls on me.” 1d ago
- Terry McLaurin: “it feels like a loss”. Called the last play “unacceptable” 1d ago
- Jayden Daniels: “ultimately it’s on me.” 1d ago
- I have never seen anything like that. Tehnically It's a tie, but this is absolutely a gut-wrenching loss. A blown lead. A second chance after a fumble and a horrendous decision at the end. There was one option if you wanted to waste time: Throw the ball away. But why not just have him spike it? You WIN if he makes the kick. My lord. 1d ago
- Oh my goodness that was just brutal. Just brutal. Throw it out of bounds. Have him spike it. My god 1d ago
- What the hell was that??? That was inexcusable! Why did you run a play???? 1d ago
- And yet another turn in a crazy game. Washington can now win with a FG. 1d ago
- Rush lane discipline. Got moved out of the gap again 1d ago
- When you play man coverage vs. Daniels, you'd best have your rush lanes covered. 1d ago
- Mike Sainristil has had a very good game on special teams today. Couple nice tackles on D as well. 1d ago
- A bullet and a good catch by McLaurin for the 2 pointer. Score now 27-13. 1d ago
- Welcome back, Jayden Daniels 1d ago
- Joshua Josephs just entered the medical tent. 1d ago
- McLaurin played 18 of the 30 snaps on O in the first half. 1d ago
- Second half D has been an issue in multiple games. Can't let the Giants get momentum here. 1d ago
- Tough game so far at LT. Trouble with the speed. 1d ago
- Another game. Another set of pre-snap penalties. 1d ago
- Had the blitz. Had the answer 1d ago
- When Washington has needed a third safety, Mike Sainristil has been out there in a deep half role. Has played 6 snaps so far. 1d ago
- Need to get an answer for the blitzes. Coleman loses that one. 1d ago
- Terry McLaurin's snap count: 6 out of 7 in the first two series. 1d ago
- And Heinicke with the pylon 1d ago
- Terry McLaurin jogging off the field after catching a few passes from Bobby Engram 1d ago
- Washington inactives: S Nick Cross, WR Stefon Diggs, S Tyler Owens, S Percy Butler, DE Charles Omenihu, G Tanoa Togiai, QB Marcus Mariota. 33339-4 1d ago

- More Jayden Daniels. Throwing deep passes: 1d ago
- Jayden Daniels warming up: 1d ago
- WR Terry McLaurin remains a gametime decision (hence: questionable). At this point a slight lean to him playing, but it’s just slight per source. 2d ago
- Amik Robertson was fined $11,941 for unnecessary roughness for grabbing the facemask… 2d ago

- Today’s moves: … DE Deatrich Wise Jr. activated off IR and removed him from the injury report … Signed LB Austin Keys from the practice squad … elevated S Darren Hall and WR Van Jefferson from the practice squad … CB Trey Amos (ankle) and RB Jeremy McNichols (quad) ruled out 2d ago
- On video with 5 thoughts. Big game Sunday. Huge. Injuries. On Jayden Daniels; Chig Okonkwo’s slow start; Josh Conerly; eyeing the Giants. More. @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com 3d ago
- Ruled out for Sunday: WR Stefon Diggs, DE Charles Omenihu, S Nick Cross, QB Marcus Mariota, S Percy Butler, S Tyler Owens. 3d ago
- @micunninghamvo@twitter.com And yes there were other calls they didn’t like Sunday they still don’t like. This is not one of those calls. It just isn’t 3d ago
- Might seem like a little thing but it’s not. Players don’t always want to talk about this topic. Sainristil spoke multiple times about it this week and has all season. Doesn’t mean he’ll suddenly play better. Does mean he’s not ducking anything. 3d ago
- Quinn said C Lucas Patrick will be the starter at this position going forward. 3d ago
- Dan Quinn said Jayden Daniels, G Sam Cosmi, RB Rachaad White are all good to go. Quinn said Stefon Diggs won't play. Quinn said he thought Terry McLaurin "looked really good today." But he didn't say if McLaurin would play for sure. 3d ago
- A good look at why this was a penalty. Don’t believe this is even one the team had issue with ( the hold on Dyami? Yep). Unfortunate but legit. Others? Have at it. 3d ago
- Jayden Daniels in action. Note: he did catch the ball with two hands later. Also took snaps again. As he has been doing since last week. 3d ago
- Terry McLaurin is out here today. Stefon Diggs is not 3d ago
- On Chig Okonkwo and the slow start. Sunday was going to be a bigger day for him until Mariota left and the way to attack changed. 734/will-chig-okonkwo-play-potential?type=forYou&subType=sc4u&entity=Commanders&entityIcon=/i/teamlogos/nfl/500-dark/wsh.png 3d ago
- A few thoughts on the injuries and also with @JordanRaanan on video talking about the Giants. How they’ve gotten off to a quick start. Good intel as always. Where Washington can attack them. @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com 3d ago
- NFC East remains up for grabs. Sunday’s game vs NY is huge. Must win. 3d ago
- Talking about the Giants with @JordanRaanan . Key to the quick start. Where can the Commanders take advantage. Update on injuries. Kaytron Allen waived. @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com john-keim-report/id1455645619?i=1000793936189 4d ago
- Another lengthy injury report. 7 DNPs. Allegretti a new one. Diggs and McLaurin both DNP but Diggs was working on a side field. Never saw McLaurin. 4d ago
- The goal/hope is that they can get Kaytron Allen back on the practice squad. 4d ago
- With Jeremy McNichols possibly back, a move needed to be made. Still a surprise 4d ago
- Sam Cosmi back out here. Not in a non-contact jersey. 4d ago
- WR Terry McLaurin is not out here during the portion open to the media. 4d ago
- WR Stefon Diggs is out here during stretching but now headed to workout with the athletic trainers off to the side 4d ago

- Jeremy Reaves nearly lost a finger Sunday. Ouch. Quick video. 345/jeremy-reaves-had-quite-injury-scare-week?type=forYou&subType=sc4u&entity=Commanders&entityIcon=/i/teamlogos/nfl/500-dark/wsh.png 4d ago
- On video with the midweek report. Talking Jayden Daniels and status for Sunday; get thru the week good To go. More WR soft tissue injuries. Oof. Much more. @ESPNRichmond@twitter.com 5d ago
- The loooong injury report. Diggs sat with a hamstring injury. Six players were DNP's today; 10 were limited. Not ideal 5d ago
- Jayden Daniels taking a “snap” and with a little pitch. Going first in drills again; Quinn said he would be a full participant in practice this week. 5d ago
- WR Stefon Diggs was not on the practice field during the portion open to the media. Not sure why at this point. 5d ago
- Jayden Daniels throwing again today. Expected to be a full participant in practice. 5d ago
- Quinn said they're optimistic with Mariota will follow a similar path as his first sprained MCL. Probably miss two games then a bye. Of course if Jayden Daniels stays healthy, then no need for Mariota. 5d ago
- Dan Quinn said it's too early to know how quickly CB Trey Amos can get up to speed and be ready to play. Has had one practice since Week 10. 5d ago
- Terry McLaurin (hamstring) will work on a separate field today. Better updates later in the week. 5d ago
- As @NickiJhabvala@twitter.com said, no IR for Marcus Mariota. Confidence is there he can return within a couple weeks. Similar timetable to camp when he was hurt Aug 14 and returned to practice Sept. 1. Also saw enough good things from AK vs. the Colts. 5d ago
- Washington released DT Jeffrey M'Ba from the practice squad. 5d ago
- Washington opened the 21-day window for CB Trey Amos, DE Deatrich Wise Jr., and RB Jeremy McNichols. So all will return to practice today. 5d ago
- With Lane on IR , get another player at the position. Played college ball at 3 local schools: Maryland, Richmond and JMU. Cut by New England this summer. 5d ago
- Will be joined by @BenStandig . 6d ago
- Washington's defense is tied for last in second-half scoring, allowing 17.8 ppg after halftime. The Commanders rank 22nd in the first half at 12.8 6d ago
- Washington ranks 26th in the NFL in QB snaps from under center with 27 (7 more than last season).Thought there would be more; not sure how injuries/score has impacted that number 6d ago
- This is supposed to be a TE Friendly offense. Didn't help that Okonkwo missed two games. But the group also will need more PA to help. So far, Washington ranks 19th in PA pass attempts. Okonkwo's strength is playing off that action (or misdirection). Ertz, for example, got open with terrific footwork. No one here runs routes like him; the O has to help more. (i thought Chig was going to have a bigger game with MM at QB b/c Indy more susceptible to PA.) 6d ago

- That's a wrap from London. Just a brutal day for Washington. D was rolling early; all fell apart when Mariota was hurt -- and other issues then became more exposed. Sun, Oct 4
- Washington lacks that security blanket for the QBs this season. Lack of development of TEs in pass game hasn't helped. Okonkwo is more a speed guy to help with a lot of PA, crossers etc. But when just needing to make a move to get open quickly? Washington lacks that dude. Sun, Oct 4
- Not a good drive to understand Pass interference penalties Sun, Oct 4
- Never good when officials huddle that long Sun, Oct 4
- Injuries have really hurt the Commanders. But, man, the Colts have played a clean game with penalties. Meanwhile, Washington has 8 penalties for 70 yards. Sun, Oct 4
- Flag down on the play. brutal Sun, Oct 4
- And waaaaay too many special teams penalties. The lost yardage is ridiculous today. Sun, Oct 4
- And now out of FG range. Colts just going all out every time it's third and long. Don't blame them. Sun, Oct 4
- Jeremy Reaves (finger), questionable to return Sun, Oct 4
- Kaliakmanis with his first TD pass... and the Commanders have new life. Sun, Oct 4
- Jaylin Lane now being carted off the field. Sun, Oct 4
- Entering the season, Washington's best offensive players: Jayden Daniels, Laremy Tunsil, Terry McLaurin, Sam Cosmi. All out. Just can't function now. with Mariota now down, and with the OL issues, need to consider a vet QB for sure. Sun, Oct 4
- 10-6 at halftime. Rarely does a 4-point lead feel so large.. Brutal developments for Washington. Injuries a constant companion for this team. but, man, that third down penalty on Robertson was just a killer. But the D has done a good job overall; gave the O the ball twice and on a short field. Sun, Oct 4
- On the 4-1, Coleman whiffed on his block and that's what mucked it up. Didn't get push inside, but a stalemate might have allowed Reynolds to pick it up. Sun, Oct 4
- Can't afford these killer penalties. Sun, Oct 4
- Washington is going to have to do more to help Kaliakmanis -- and the OL. Can't keep run, run, pass. They're coming after him big time in that situation. Throw out of run sets. I have to admit: Did not like the play call on 4-1; not even sold on going for it. Sun, Oct 4
- Don't see them being able to slam it up the middle vs. this interior -- behind this interior. Sun, Oct 4
- OK: NOW Douglas can go celebrate with gusto Sun, Oct 4
- So this is what Daniel Jones really looks like Sun, Oct 4
- Robertson back on the field Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota helped the OL last week with quick throws etc. Really helped. But today they're applying pressure. Going to be interesting with a rookie in his first work Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota headed to the locker room Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota going into the medical tent. Kaliakmanis warming up. Sun, Oct 4
- So: Croskey-Merritt shows how he can help in the pass game. Burst Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota takes advantage of a Colts' D that will bite hard on fakes. Sun, Oct 4
- Washington's defense forcing Jones into checkdowns. Playing fast. Sun, Oct 4
- Quinn opts for the FG on fourth and 2. Colts' D will take that but Washingto up 3-0. Buckner will be a problem all day inside. Sun, Oct 4
- Great rush by Oweh to push the T back into Jones Sun, Oct 4
- Daniel Jones' issue this season: turnovers. Jones with the gift. Sun, Oct 4
- Washington wins the toss. Defers. Giddy up Sun, Oct 4
- The Colts love the PA game; just not as effecive going downfield without Alec Pierce. Daniel Jones averaging just 4.4 yards per PA attempt. He's also not running as much, 7 for 17. But we've all seen enough from him over the years to know what he has done vs. Washington. Sun, Oct 4
- Does not help that Terry McLaurin is out for sure. One thing to note: The Colts' LBs have been hurt by play action. Last year: Chig Okonkwo caught 9 passes for 119 yards in two games vs. the Colts. Having him back should help -- he HAS to be effective in the PA game. Sun, Oct 4
- Have not seen Terry McLaurin yet. Not a good sign at all. Inactives will be out in about 20 minutes. Sun, Oct 4
- Austin Ekeler getting ready for a game for the first time since Week 2 last season Sun, Oct 4
- Quick video live from my hotel room! Terry McLaurin could miss Sunday's game against Colts 475 Sat, Oct 3
- The one who returned the topic to the logo. When Washington introduced the spear on the alternates this was the path they were going down. Uniforms this season… hurdles remain for it to be in play for 2027 but that’s the desire for sure. Sat, Oct 3
- And this is what it looked like at the rally: Sat, Oct 3
- So the “Washington Road Warrior” was at the rally. Asked his real name: “Road”. Sat, Oct 3

- Washington has elevated LB Ale Kaho and RB Craig Reynolds. Kaho has been elevated three times this season (the max amount allowed for a player). Sat, Oct 3
- Yes, per source WR Terry McLaurin is very much in question for Sunday because of the hamstring. Those are tricky situations. No final decision until Sunday but certainly leaning the wrong way. questionable. Find out Sunday morning. Sat, Oct 3
- And Mark Clouse spending more of Josh Harris’ money: another round on the house. (The place holds 2,000. A line of around 400 outside to get in. Fingers crossed this does not hurt Harris’ account): Sat, Oct 3

- 20 targets for Malik Nabers 1d ago
- I repeat. Jayden Daniels can scoot. Another long TD run. 1d ago
- The Giants LOVE throwing to Isaiah Likely in the end zone. Just did and resulted in a TD. 1d ago
- Quibble over whether a hold or PI, but Robertson grabbed the back of the receiver's jersey on the throw. 1d ago
- Amik Robertson jumps the passing lane to intercept at the goal line. However... officials call Robertson for pass interference. NYG ball at the 2. 1d ago
- Jayden Daniels can always scoot. Runs 38 yards for a touchdown. Tons of room down the left side. 19-6, Commanders. 1d ago
- Ok, that was a tough football watch, but a good score for Washington. The defensive front is putting in work. The Giants are averaging 2.2 yards per carry on 12 runs. Two sacks, one forced fumble/recovery. The penalties remain an issue. Washington called for seven. Five accepted for 35 yards (3 for 15 for NYG). 1d ago
- Skatteboo did NOT want that smoke. 1d ago
- Fun fact: Daniels and Winston have each completed 6 of 11 passes. 1d ago
- Another brutal penalty. This time, holding on Rasul Douglas after the defensive front sacked Winston on 3rd down. That's four penalties midway through the 2Q after 10 last week. 1d ago
- Deatrich Wise is very excited to be playing for the first time in 13 months. Understandable. 1d ago

- The NFL fined CB Amik Robertson $11,941 for unnecessary roughness against the Colts. 2d ago
- Pleasant surprise: The Commanders activated DE Deatrich Wise Jr. off the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform List and removed him from the injury report. Wise has not played since tearing his quad in Week 2 last season. Washington signed LB Austin Keys from the practice squad, and elevated S Darren Hall and WR Van Jefferson from the practice squad CB Trey Amos (ankle) and RB Jeremy McNichols (quad) have been downgraded to out. 2d ago
- Source: The Dolphins and Colts put in claims on Kaytron Allen. The rookie RB's best showing was probably PSG1 against Miami. His most recent game (12 snaps) was against Indy. 2d ago

- Lost in the Kaytron Allen of it all, the Commanders ruled out THREE safeties for Sunday. That leaves only two active, and one of those two, Jeremy Reaves, nearly lost a finger in the London game. So you have Quan Martin and Reaves. The lone PS safety signed this week. 3d ago

- We know GM Adam Peters has the final say over the 53 at cutdown day. What about during the regular season? Dan Quinn says that, yes, Peters still has the final say (even though game planning is involved). 3d ago
- Dan Quinn on releasing Kaytron Allen. He said it was a "difficult" decision, and they hope to "work with him again," meaning he clears waivers and signs with the PS. After checking with league sources, I think some team will claim Allen. Multiple teams could place a claim. 3d ago
- Dan Quinn time. Injuries: Jayden Daniels, Sam Cosmi and Rachaad White are IN for Sunday. Sounds like Terry McLaurin is also set to face the Giants. Stefon Diggs is OUT. 3d ago
- On S Nick Cross. He has practiced this week. But he went from full to limited (and I'm not sure the full wasn't closer to a limited). Friday’s injury report out later today. Regardless, this is a medical clearance issue, as GM Adam Peters told @JunksRadio@twitter.com this morning. 3d ago
- Nick Allegretti and Sam Cosmi are out here. 3d ago
- I spy Terry McLaurin during the stretching part of open practice. Not seeing Stefon Diggs. 3d ago
- I'll pull back slightly on the McNichols activation angle because of the crazy long injury report. They may want a WR or LB or DB or QB3 more than RB4/KR for this week. Plenty of time before they have to make a call on JMN. I imagjne he's activated at some point regardless. 3d ago
- Now an open roster spot after Kaytron Allen's release. Do they: Add QB3? WR depth after losing Lane + 17 & 3 hurt? Sign Ale Kaho now that he is out of free elevations? Activate McNichols as RB4 + KR help? Other (reply in thread) I am thinking Amos and Wise need more reps. 3d ago

- The Commanders elevated RB Craig Reynolds and LB Ale Kaho from the practice squad. Reynolds being available on Sunday would suggest Austin Ekeler needs more time. Depth required with Rachaad White (shoulder) out. Sat, Oct 3
- Yep, just experienced some newsy whiplash. Precaution with a tricky injury has now taken taken the lead, though no final decision has been made. All went down while being a tourist in front of Westminster Abbey. Weird. Sat, Oct 3
- Sources: Despite intial hope he would play through a hamstring injury, Washington Commanders WR Terry McLaurin is now likely to miss Sunday’s game in London against the Indianapolis Colts, multiple sources tell Last Man Standig. - Sources: Terry McLaurin is still expected to play in London despite showing up on the final injury report. He apparently tweaked his hamstring against the Seahawks and, after the Wednesday and Thursday practices, the plan leaned toward precaution. - I guess overtime field goals aren't guaranteed 8h ago
- The Seahawks literally *just* won the Super Bowl last year 😂 9h ago
- Hey @RamsNFL do y'all have something against Kyren Williams??? 10h ago
- What would firing Quinn now do to make the #Commanders better, exactly? If this season goes down the drain and you pull the trigger in the offseason, fair game. But how would doing it in Week 6 make them better in 2026? 10h ago
- You really can't hit in the NFL anymore 😂 10h ago
- The latest episode of The Tashan Reed Show is out now. I discussed the #Commanders ' calamitous tie with the Giants, who's to blame, how the team moves forward from here and whether they have any chance against the 49ers: tashan-reed-show-the-fallout?r=1gwknd&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true 13h ago
- On this from Ryan: Daniels said after the game that the situation was "Ozone" 16h ago
- Just asked Quinn about this. He said he didn't like the lack of urgency, but didn't specify whether the players were unaware of them having zero timeouts or how much time was left. 16h ago
- When asked whether he's had conversations with Josh Harris about his job security, Quinn said they're in constant communication, generally speaking. He didn't specify whether they talked about his job security. 17h ago
- Quinn said that he doesn't have any worries about losing the locker room or having the team turn on one another after last night. He met with the team earlier today. 17h ago
- #Commanders HC Dan Quinn said he's "furious" about the team's execution late against the Giants. He added they didn't intend to take that long to snap the ball before their final play. "We've got a lot of shit to clean up on," he said. 17h ago
- Something we still haven't gotten a clear answer on: If the #Commanders knew they had no timeouts, then why was there no urgency to get set after Daniels was sacked? Daniels didn't move until he looked over and saw the coaches reacting. His teammates didn't seem aware either. 17h ago
- On Nabers' TD, the #Commanders sent a 5-man pressure with off man coverage. Sainristil opened up his hips, which left him unable to recover when Nabers turned the route inside. Poor technique by Mikey, but I still don't like allowing free releases there to begin with: 17h ago
- Still don't get the #Commanders ' approach on Likely's second TD. It's 4th-and-8. They sent a 6-man pressure, which is fine, but they were playing off coverage, which gave Likely and Nabers free releases. Robertson both went with Nabers, which left Likely wide open. 17h ago
- On Nabers' TD, the #Commanders sent another simulated pressure with off man coverage.
They sent a 6-man simulated pressure, which is fine, but they were playing off coverage, which gave Likely and Nabers free releases. Robertson both went with Nabers, which left Likely wide open. 17h ago
- The #Commanders defense was playing so well to start the game. It feels like part of the second-half collapses is their lack of depth. They were down three safeties, their top corner, two linebackers and two rotational defensive linemen. Fatigue sets in eventually. 18h ago
- #Commanders coverage stats of note per NFL Pro: - CB Rasul Douglas: 7 catches, 82 yards, 1 TD - CB Mike Sainristil: 4 catches, 69 yards, 1 TD - LB Sonny Styles: 4 catches, 46 yards, 1 TD - CB Fabian Moreau: 4 catches, 33 yards - CB Amik Robertson: 3 catches, 30 yards 20h ago
- The #Commanders ' defense blitzed on 39% of the Giants' dropbacks per NFL Pro, but didn't have as much success. They had just two sacks and a pressure rate of 33.9%. That helped Jameis Winston light up the secondary for 326 yards and 3 TDs. 20h ago
- The #Commanders were blitzed on 59.5% of their drop backs against the Giants, per NFL Pro. They allowed a pressure rate of 37.8% and 5 sacks. They struggled in pass protection all game and had no answers for New York's heat. 20h ago
- The #Commanders were blitzed on 73.3% of their drop backs against the Giants, per NFL Pro. They allowed a pressure rate of 37.8% and 5 sacks. They struggled in pass protection all game and had no answers for New York's heat. 20h ago
- I'll be livestreaming The Tashan Reed Show at 6 p.m. ET today to breakdown the fallout from the #Commanders ' collapse against the Giants... and eventually preview their daunting MNF matchup with the undefeated 49ers: 407207?utm_source=live-stream-scheduled-upsell 22h ago
- The inexplicable mismanagement clearly wasn't just on Dan Quinn, but the players' lack of preparedness ultimately falls on him. As Josh Harris deliberates whether the #Commanders need a new direction this offseason, the debacle could dictate Quinn’s fate: /10/12/buck-stops-with-dan-quinn-after-commanders-overtime-debacle/ 23h ago
- "That's really unacceptable as an offense." Just as everything seemed to be lining up for the #Commanders , it all collapsed in a calamitous tie to the Giants. My story on the debacle in Washington: /10/11/commanders-cant-make-up-ground-nfc-east-after-calamitous-tie-vs-giants/ 1d ago
- #Commanders HC Dan Quinn: "Leaving tonight with a tie feels like a loss. The last sequence, you throw it out of bounds or you clock it and you give yourself a chance to kick it. ... After the first down run, we were still trying to gain more for the kick. The right call was, honestly, we can go clock it early and don't put ourselves in that spot. That's my responsibility. Nobody else's." 1d ago
- To recap, the final play call from the #Commanders had two reads: Throw to the outside or clock it. It remains unclear why Daniels didn't do that. And, as Quinn acknowledged, they should've just kept it simple and spiked the ball. 1d ago
- Quinn said, in retrospect, the #Commanders should've just spiked the ball and attempted the field goal. He said they were trying to gain more yardage. 1d ago
- #Commanders HC Dan Quinn said the intent on the final play was to throw the ball out of bounds, but he took responsibility for what happened 1d ago
- #Commanders QB Jayden Daniels on the late-game meltdown: 1d ago
- #Commanders QB Jayden Daniels on the sequence to end the game: "It's on me." When asked if they knew they were out of timeouts, he said the offense should've done a better job of communicating that. 1d ago
- There's a few explanations: - Daniels didn't know the #Commanders had zero timeouts - Dan Quinn didn't know they had zero timeouts - Daniels wasn't aware of how much time was left None of them are acceptable. 1d ago
- That's just completely inexplicable. The #Commanders were in FG range, but ran a play with the clock dangerously low and no TOs remaining. Daniels was tackled and the clock ran out before they could stop it. They go from potentially winning the game to tying with the Giants. 1d ago
- The #Commanders with an untimely three-and-out. Daniels was sacked on 3rd down. Dru Phillips blitzed and wasn't picked up. 1d ago
- After review, it was determined that Likely crossed the goalline before losing the ball. 1d ago
- Wow. Likely converted the 4th down on a completion, but fumbled in the end zone and the #Commanders recovered. This will go to replay. 1d ago
- And the 2-pt conversion is good on a pass from Daniels to McLaurin. The #Commanders lead 27-13. 1d ago
- Daniels. Again. He takes off, makes a defender miss and scores on a 29-yard TD run. 1d ago
- The #Commanders lead the Giants 19-13 at the end of the 3rd QTR. Offense needs an answer here after NY got their first TD of the game. 1d ago
- After seeing the replay a few times, I'm not sure where the DPI was on Robertson. Should've been an INT. 1d ago
- Just as I say that, Likely beats Styles for the TD on 3rd down. #Commanders ' lead is cut to 19-13. 1d ago
- That #Commanders sack is negated by a holding call on Rasul Douglas. Giants move the chains. 1d ago
- Drew Stevens hits the FG to put the #Commanders ahead of the Giants 9-3. Washington has to clean up their offensive operation. Coleman's also really struggling in pass protection. 1d ago
- And then Coleman gets called for holding, so the #Commanders had 3 penalties after getting to the Giants' 9-yard line. 1d ago
- Pre-snap penalties have been killing the #Commanders offense the last few weeks. Back-to-back false starts in the red zone. Can't happen. 1d ago
- Okonkwo had just 21 receiving yards coming into today. He's now up to 59 yards across 3 grabs. 1d ago
- The FGA is good that time for the Giants. They trail the #Commanders 6-3. Run defense has been really strong so far. 1d ago
- Daniels is sacked again and that'll be another 3-and-out for the #Commanders . Coleman gave up that one, too. 1d ago
- #Commanders returner adjustments after losing Jaylin Lane: - Luke McCaffrey and Rachaad White are handling kickoff returns - Antonio Williams has punt returns 1d ago
- The #Commanders ' defense forces a quick 3-and-out of their own. They've bottled up the Giants' ground game so far and made them one dimensional on offense. 1d ago
- The #Commanders have Mike Sainristil in at safety. 1d ago
- Abdul Carter beat Brandon Coleman for a sack on second down. That pretty much ended that #Commanders drive before it got started. They'll punt. 1d ago
- The #Commanders gave up some yardage there, but held the Giants to a FG attempt, which they missed. Washington still leads 6-0. 1d ago
- Josh Conerly Jr. pulled and made a key block to open up that lane for Bill. The XP is no good, so #Commanders lead 6-0. 1d ago
- Jacory Croskey-Merritt to the house. He found the edge and outran the safety for the score. Hell of an opening drive for the #Commanders . 1d ago
- #Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) is officially active against the Giants. 1d ago
- One of the greatest games ever, man. 1d ago
- The #Commanders get Wise back, but Amos and McNichols aren't ready yet. 2d ago
- Jamal Roberts turned into 07 AP ok then 2d ago
- Who's trading for Marvin Jr.? Find out next time on Dragonball Z. 2d ago
- #Commanders will be really shorthanded at safety. Jeremy Reaves and Quan Martin are currently the only ones on the active roster. Darren Hall is on the practice squad. 3d ago
- Fatman is headed to Miami: 3d ago
- Cross, Omenihu, Diggs, Mariota, Owens and Butler have been ruled out. McLaurin, Amos, McNichols and Wise are questionable. 3d ago
- McLaurin wasn't available to speak to reporters today, so we'll have to wait for the injury report for further details on his status. 3d ago
- Patrick has allowed a pressure rate of just 2.7% this season (35th among offensive linemen who've played at least 50 pass blocking snaps) according to TruMedia. 3d ago
- Quinn said Lucas Patrick will start at center for the #Commanders this Sunday. It'll be his third start in a row. 3d ago
- Quinn attributed the release of RB Kaytron Allen to roster management. He said he hopes they get to work together again. 3d ago
- Injury updates from #Commanders HC Dan Quinn: Jayden Daniels, Sam Cosmi and Rachaad White will play. Stefon Diggs won't play. Terry McLaurin is TBD. 3d ago
- I don't see #Commanders WR Stefon Diggs (hamstring) out here. 3d ago
- #Commanders OL Nick Allegretti (achilles/hip) is also back out here after missing practice yesterday. 3d ago
- #Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) just walked onto the practice field for the first time all week. 3d ago
- Jayden Daniels gives the #Commanders a chance — and so does the lackluster NFC East — but his presence alone won't be enough to dig them out of their 1-3 hole. How the offense can do a better job of supporting him: /10/09/jayden-danielss-risky-return-cant-solve-all-commanders-problems/ 3d ago
- For what it's worth... the NFC East is absolutely up for grabs 4d ago
- With Jeremy McNichols back in the mix, the #Commanders released Allen. If he clears waivers, they could sign him back to the practice squad. 4d ago
- Diggs was working off to the side after warmups today, so that's why he's listed as DNP. He was in full uniform. 4d ago
- Allegretti didn't practice today: 4d ago
- Cosmi suffered a season-ending concussion last year. Washington has been cautious with his return to play. 4d ago
- #Commanders RG Sam Cosmi on his latest concussion: "It's a little scary, for sure." Nonetheless, he said he feels good and ready. Seems likely to play against the Giants on Sunday 4d ago
- It's been a frustrating last couple years for McLaurin. He missed 7 games — and never looked like himself — after the quad injury last year. Now, he may miss his second straight game due to a hamstring. 4d ago
- Also didn't see #Commanders DE Charles Omenihu (groin) for the second straight practice. 4d ago
- #Commanders WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) isn't out here during warmups. He also missed practice yesterday. 4d ago
- #Commanders WR Stefon Diggs (hamstring) is back at practice today. 4d ago
- The #Commanders have a decision to make at center: /10/07/an-offensive-line-flux-more-x-factors-commanders-vs-giants/ 4d ago
- Special teams haven't been as much of an advantage for the #Commanders as in the past: - They're 26th in average field position margin - 19th in FG% - 12th in yards per kick return - 24th in opponent yards per KR - 8th in yards per punt return - 19th in opponents yards per PR 4d ago
- #Commanders ' opponents have an average starting field position of their own 33.6-yard line (28th). That's put the defense at a disadvantage. Jones: "I told the players this Monday, it's no different than a marriage. Sometimes it's 50-50. Sometimes it has to be 70-30." 4d ago
- The #Commanders ' defense has allowed TDs on 80% of their red zone drives (30th). DC Daronte Jones: "It's just the details. ... The field shortens vertically, but then it widens horizontally. And so, understanding that, our guys got to change their mindset and focus." 4d ago
- The #Commanders ' collective backs are against the wall headed into a must-win game against the Giants. My X-factors to watch in their matchup: /10/07/an-offensive-line-flux-more-x-factors-commanders-vs-giants/ 5d ago
- Nabers missed practice today due to a knee injury: 5d ago
- Diggs didn't practice today due to a hamstring injury. So, the #Commanders ' top two WRs are nursing bad hammys. 5d ago
- #Commanders QB Jayden Daniels on where he is mentally: "I'm straight, honestly. I'm good." 5d ago
- Also didn't see S Tyler Owens (hamstring) 5d ago
- Don't see DE Charles Omenihu (groin) at practice. 5d ago
- #Commanders RG Sam Cosmi (concussion) is practicing in a black non-contact jersey. So is TE Ben Sinnott and RB Rachaad White. 5d ago
- Don't see #Commanders RG Sam Cosmi (concussion) and DE Charles Omenihu (groin) at practice today. 5d ago
- Quinn said they've opened the practice windows for CB Trey Amos, RB Jeremy McNichols and DE Deatrich Wise. Those players now have 21 days to be moved to the roster. 5d ago
- #Commanders HC Dan Quinn said WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) won't practice today, but will work off to the side. 5d ago
- How many times is this story gonna get rehashed, man? 😂 5d ago

- Yeah, there just comes a point. No Jayden, no Laremy, no Terry, no Cosmi. "Next man up" only goes so far, lol. Sun, Oct 4
- Down to their third quarterback, the #Commanders ' collapsed against the Colts. Even with Daniels' return on the horizon, Washington faces a tough road ahead. From London: /10/04/commanders-lose-marcus-mariota-knee-injury-early-clash-with-colts/ Sun, Oct 4
- Quinn said Jayden Daniels will be a full participant for the #Commanders in practice this week. That puts him on track to return against the Giants. Sun, Oct 4
- Quinn said WR Terry McLaurin (hamstring) pushed to play today. He'll have an update on his status Wednesday. Sun, Oct 4
- #Commanders HC Dan Quinn said QB Marcus Mariota has an MCL injury. He'll undergo testing tomorrow. DE Charles Omenihu will also need imaging for his groin injury. WR Jaylin Lane has a serious ankle injury. May not travel today. Sun, Oct 4
- The #Commanders lose to the Colts, 30-13, and fall to 1-3. The Mariota injury was a backbreaker, but the struggling offensive line and penalties were costly yet again. Jayden Daniels will likely be back next week, but this supporting cast isn't going to cut it with him, either. Sun, Oct 4
- That'll probably do it for this one. Sun, Oct 4
- The #Commanders pass on 4th down was incomplete, but they convert on a defensive holding by Gardner. Sun, Oct 4
- Jones scrambled for a TD to push the Colts back ahead over the #Commanders by two scores. Sun, Oct 4
- The #Commanders trail the Colts 20-13 going into the 4th QTR. They still have a chance, but they need a stop badly here. Sun, Oct 4

- (There was also a holding penalty. Double whammy.) Sun, Oct 4

- Lane has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Reaves is questionable with a finger injury. Sun, Oct 4
- Kaliakmanis got blasted on 3rd down. The #Commanders will punt. Tough outcome after that deep shot to Brown. Sun, Oct 4
- The Colts' FG is good. The #Commanders trail 20-13. Sun, Oct 4
- What a play by Treylon Burks. Shed his man in coverage and hauled in a bomb from Kaliakmanis for a 47-yard TD. The #Commanders are back in it. Sun, Oct 4
- Lane's down on the field for the #Commanders . Sun, Oct 4
- Taylor scores again and the Colts extend their lead over the #Commanders to 17-6. The Kaliakmanis-led offense has given no reason to believe they can mount a comeback in this one. Sun, Oct 4
- Kaliakmanis' pass was deflected and picked off deep in #Commanders territory. Terrible way to start the second half. Sun, Oct 4
- The #Commanders have ruled out QB Marcus Mariota (right knee). They've been held scoreless since he was injured in the first quarter. They'll need much more from Kaliakmanis and the offensive line in the second half to beat the Colts. Sun, Oct 4
- The Colts' FG is good. They take a 10-6 lead over the #Commanders into halftime. Mariota' injury has just completely derailed this game for Washington. They were rolling, but now they're reeling. We should get an update on Mariota during the halftime break. Sun, Oct 4

- Jones threw a meatball sub right to Douglas. The Colts' QB is playing terribly today. #Commanders defense has been lights out. Sun, Oct 4
- These #Commanders injuries are crazy. Starters (and backups) going down left and right. Sun, Oct 4
- Looks like it was Mariota's right knee, which is the same one he suffered a sprained MCL in during the preseason. Sun, Oct 4
- It's a knee injury for Mariota. He suffered a sprained MCL in the preseason, but it's unclear whether it's the same knee. Sun, Oct 4
- Athan Kaliakmanis is in at QB for the #Commanders . Sun, Oct 4
- Another stop for the #Commanders ' defense. Their D-line is kicking the Colts O-line's ass. That's making life much easier on the secondary, but they're also playing way better. Lane was back in the game on that punt. Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota headed into the locker room. Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota went into the medical tent after that sack. Sun, Oct 4
- Lane is being evaluated for a concussion: Sun, Oct 4
- Mariota got sacked on 3rd down and was a little slow to get up after the play. He jogged gingerly off the field. The #Commanders extend their lead over the Colts to 6-0 with another FG. That's two redzone possessions without TDs. Have to capitalize on those opportunities. Sun, Oct 4
- Then Jacory Croskey-Merritt took a short pass in the flat for 35 yards. #Commanders ' offense is moving. Sun, Oct 4
- When the #Commanders went to their nickel package, Robertson slid inside to slot defender with Fabian Moreau at outside CB. No Mike Sainristil so far. Sun, Oct 4
- The #Commanders started Matt Gulbin at RG that drive. Lucas Patrick was still at C, so Nick Allegretti was benched. Washington takes a 3-0 lead on a FG. Sun, Oct 4

- #Commanders ' starters out today: - QB Jayden Daniels - WR Terry McLaurin - LT Laremy Tunsil - RG Sam Cosmi - CB Trey Amos - S Nick Cross Sun, Oct 4
- RE: tuses/2106716539491946562 The Colts will be without three of their top WRs today: Allen, Slayton and Alec Pierce. Really no excuse for the #Commanders ' secondary in this one. Sun, Oct 4
